“To say 2020 was not the year that we had planned would be an understatement! With everything up in the air, we made the decision early to move forward with a smaller gathering of our 50 closest friends and family members. It was the most perfect day, and looking back on it now, we wouldn’t have changed a thing.
Northern Michigan has always been a special place to us. We took our first trip as a couple to Traverse City for a friend’s wedding 3 years ago, and we got engaged at Bry’s Winery last year. When we saw The Homestead we knew it was the perfect place to host our family and friends- many of which had not experienced the beauty of Northern Michigan. We loved having everyone on site to celebrate with us for a few days. Also- the view from Bay Mountain where our ceremony was cannot be beat!
Our wedding day was the perfect representation of us- fun with lots of love, laughs and our mini golden doodle Bronx. We had a close friend of ours officiate the wedding, and it gave it the most personal and special touch. In lieu of traditional vows, Jack and I chose to write each other letters that our officiant read, which was one of our favorite parts of the day. There was also a special performance of New York, New York by Frank Sinatra sung by Jack’s dad during the Mother/Son dance, that ended in a mashup of Empire State of Mind to kick off the reception. But the most important aspect of our wedding day was being surrounded by our friends and family. After this difficult year, we were so happy and grateful to be able to have a small group of people we love the most there to celebrate with us.”
